Basset Hounds are well known for being the 'Hush Puppy dog' but were originally bred for hunting small game as they are fantastic scent hounds. Their name comes from the French word "Bas" meaning low which describes these short dogs well they are affected by a form of dwarfism.
Often seen as dopey, Basset Hounds are very affectionate and relaxed dogs who suit a family lifestyle. They were bred as pack dogs, so they are very loyal and loving to their family. Although they are not very energetic, they have a lot of stamina so enjoy long walks.
If you don't mind drool, then your Basset Hound can be a lovely lap dog -- they often try this as they forget how big they are!!
This realistic Classic Tri-Colour Basset Hound dog has lovely soft fur with signature long floppy ears, bright eyes and long muzzle.
Don't worry, this dog is perfect as a lap dog and doesn't drool! It has beans in it's bottom to give a little weight and will "SIT" nicely!
