CHARLIE BEARS KEYS - FROM THE QUEEN'S BEASTS SERIES
Size: 21" (53CM)
When Her Majesty the Queen of England was crowned in 1953, the entrance to Westminster Abbey was guarded by ten fantastical creatures in the form of heraldic statues that were 6ft high and weighed 50 stones each!
Each beast supports a shield bearing a badge or arms of a family associated with the ancestory of Queen Elizabeth II. After the coronation, they were moved to the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. Charlie Bears have designed a stunning series to commemorate this and it is called THE QUEEN'S BEASTS SERIES.
The first 4 beasts were launched in the 2019 Collection and they have now created 4 more in the 2020 Collection.
Keys is a Numbered Limited Edition of 2000.
Keys represents The Yale of Beaufort, which was a mythical goat-like, four-legged creature supposedely white with golden spots, with the tusks of a boar and able to swivel each of its horns independantly. It decends the Queen through Henry V11, who inherited it from his ,other, lady Margaret Beaufort, who played a central part on the Wars of the Roses. Her position as matriarch of the Tudor dynasty gave the the yale prestige and symbolic meaning.
Charlie Bears have captured this regal creature really well, from the soft white plush that has golden spots and goat-like hooves, to the amazing golden horns, that actually swivel! WOW!!
So if you want a really unusual character in your collection, then this is it!
OTHERS IN THIS NEW COLLECTION ARE: GRIFF, MILO and PEREGRINE.
Keys is from the Charlie Bears 2020 Collection.
