'A Paper Teddy Bear?!' we hear you cry. Yes! After the end of World War I Steiff was struggling for supply of wool and other bear materials, so had to innovate to continue producing bears. From 1919 to 1921 they used a clever paper-based material to make bears. A replica paper bear was released as a Steiff club exclusive in 2010 and another in 2014.
Steiff are now commemorating the 100th anniversary of the first paper bear and have added the Platinum Paper Teddy Bear to the Autumn 2019 Collection. His "fur" is made from platinum-grey paper and pineapple fibres have been used to make his gleaming soles and paws!! He has wooden eyes and a stainless steel "Button In Ear".
So if you want an unusual and very collectable bear to be part of your collection, then this is the bear for you, as he really will be a talking point and is an important part of the history of Steiff bear making.

He has the famous "Button in Ear", made from stainless steel and has a white label with red writing, showing that he is only limited to 919 pieces worldwide, making a very collectable bear.
