Every year as part of the Designers Choice Series, Steiff invite one of their designers to reinterpret classic Steiff articles, while giving free rein to their creativity.
The chosen designer for 2019 is Sarah-Anne Schaude and she was inspired by the work of vibrant Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, who frequently wore traditional costumes and hairstyles and wore matching jewellery. Therefore, the Designers Choice bear Frida represents her passion and artistic flair.
Made of high quality black jacquard fabric, she wears a wreath of handmade, painted felt flowers and leaves. The embroidered borders of her clothing were inspired by the traditional Tehuna costumes that Frida Kahlo used to wear.
Limited to 500 pieces
She has the famous gold plated "Button in Ear" and a white label with red writing, showing that she is only limited to 500 pieces worldwide, making a very collectable bear.
