Every year as part of our Designers Choice Series, Steiff invite one of their designers to reinterpret classic Steiff articles, while giving free rein to their creativity.

The chosen designer for 2017 is Margit Richter, who is one of their most experienced designers and has been making wonderful creations for Steiff since 1981.
Her Designers Choice whisks us away to the world of Claude Monet, the founder of French Impressionist painting and is one of her favourite artistic periods.
For 42 years he lived in a pink house with green shutters and lovingly tended to the garden. Inspired by the many-coloured blossoms and seductive scents, he produced countless works of art, of which his water lilies are argueably the most memorable.
With this scenery in mind, Margit Richter created TEDDY BEAR CLAUDE and LITTLE MARA ELEPHANT, both of whom look as though they would have been right at home in the picturesque surroundings at Giverny.
Every CLAUDE TEDDY BEAR is hand-crafted from high quality, multi-coloured mohair in blue-green tones that has a random pattern, so each one will be unique, just like the famous paintings and he wears a characteristic water lily flower on his lapel.
CLAUDE TEDDY BEAR may well prove to be a great favourite among lovers of impressionist art and beautiful gardens - and needless to say, among fans of Claude Monet.
It has the famous gold plated "Button in Ear" and a white label, showing that it is only limited to 500 pieces worldwide, making a very collectable bear.
