Do you know Winnipeg's close connection with our beloved Winnie the Pooh? If you're sitting comfortably, I'll begin... In 1914 a small black bear was purchased by a Lieutenant of the Canadian cavalry, and was taken by him to Europe where she became the mascot of his regiment, fighting in World War I. When the regiment headae back to Canada Winnipeg needed a new home, and was adopted by London Zoo.
A certain young man named Christopher Robin took a shine to Winnipeg while on a visit to the zoo, and named his own teddy bear 'Winnie'. His father was AA Milne and Winnie became the stuffy old fluffy bear in his stories of Winnie the Pooh!
Winnipeg is made from the finest Steiff Schulte mohair in glossy black. She has a neatly trimmed beige muzzle, and light brown paw pads lots of detail. She's fully jointed and will sit perfectly with her head turned to face you! She bears the gold-plated Steiff button in ear and red & white label exclusive to limited editions. Delivered in a Steiff box with numbered certificate.
