When Her Majesty the Queen of England was crowned in 1953, the entrance to Westminster Abbey was guarded by ten fantastical creatures in the form of heraldic statues that were 6ft high and weighed 50 stone each!
Each beast supports a sheild bearing a badge or arms of a family associated with the ancestory of Queen Elizabeth II. After the coronation, they were moved to the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec.
Charlie Bears have designed a stunning series to commemorate this and it's called The Queen's Beast Series.
Mortimer is a numbered Limited Edition of 2000.
Mortimer represents the White Lion of Mortimer.
Mortimer has soft crisp white fur, with a majestic mane. His big mighty paws are sculpted and stitched and he has a long tail, a black hand-stitched nose and smiling mouth - so he is very friendly lion, who will roar his way into your affections.
Mortimer is from the Charlie Bears 2021 Collection.
