The first in a new collection of family-related Steiff collectables, where a favourite teddy bear or animal of various Steiff family members will be brought to life and will include a reprint of the vintage photo of them with their toy. This picture will be presented in a custom made frame, inspired by the green glass windows in the Steiff factory.
Peter Hotz is Margarete Steiff's great, great Grandnephew and is now the Managing Director of Steiff and so this Family Members Series begins with his beloved Zotty teddy bear.
Peter modelled for the Steiff catalogue when he was only 3 years of age and after the photoshoot, he was given Zotty, which was his favourite one. Peter still has Zotty, who sits on a shelf in his home office, below a print of the Steiff family tree.
Steiff Peter's Zotty is only limited to 969, which is linked to the year of his birth (1969) and is made from high quality caramel tipped mohair, with felt paw pads and he also has a growler. The big rounded muzzle has been shaved to show off his hand stitched nose and open mouth, which is a feature that the Zotty bears are known for. He wears a blue ribbon and has a replica chest tag. As mentioned above, this bear also comes with a framed copy of a photo of Peter with his original Zotty.
Limited to 969 pieces worldwide
He has the famous gold plated "Button in Ear" and a white label with red writing, showing that he is only limited to 969 pieces worldwide, making a very collectable bear.
