The teddy bears and animals from the Steiff Replica series are very special, as they have re-created bears that they have made in the past, using historic patterns and tools and so have been reproduced exactly according to their role models from the Steiff archieves. All Steiff replicas have the famous "Button in Ear" indicating the year in which they were made and from Spring 2017 onwards, they have had replica ear tags as well. From this time, the white tag with red lettering will be sewn into the side seam of the bear as well and will contain the article and limited edition number.

Steiff made animals on wheels before they created jointed teddy bears and the first bear on wheels was made as early as 1894.
Steiff have now re-created their 1904 version of a bear on wheels with a frame and this is made from high quality brown alpaca and has been stuffed with wood shavings. It is 1-way jointed at the head and has a hand-stitched nose and mouth and has wooden eyes.
It is also special, as it has the first button in ear, with an elephant motif and this didn't have a tag. A white replica label is also sewn into the back leg.
So if you want to add an early replica Steiff to your collection, then this fun bear on wheels could be an ideal choice.
