Margarete's Teddy Bear Replica 1909 is a classicly appealing bear even before you know the heritage he carries.
Made from finest German mohair in sandy blond and with bright shining eyes, made in the traditional way from wood, he has a kind and friendly expression. He stands an impressive 46cm tall and is fully jointed. He is absolutely authentic to his namesake, with hand-stitched claws, nose and mouth, and wood-shavings stuffing. And he also has a deep, beary voice thanks to his growler.
The original Margarete's Teddy Bear had the rare honour of being photographed with his creator, Margarete Steiff, along with her dalmatian dog, in a photograph that became famous due to the scarcity of pictures of Margarete. This replica bear has been created to commemorate Margarete's life and the 100 year anniversary of her death in 1909. For that reason Margarete's teddy bear replica has been limited to just 1909 pieces worldwide.
To further distinguish him and his history he carries a patinated steel button-in-ear as used in his original year of production, along with a white and black tag. This shows he is a true replica of an original Steiff and one of a particularly limited edition.
