It is with great pleasure that we introduce our first range of teddy bears, mice, rabbits and other animals and characters from world-renowned teddy bear artist, Deb Canham. Deb has a huge following of fans who adore her miniature bears, flamboyant dragons and well-dressed animals.
Deb became one of the UK’s first teddy bear artists when she began designing and making her own miniature bears in 1987. Rapidly Deb became a respected expert in teddy bear artistry, holding lectures, workshops and writing a book on miniature bear making.
In 1996 Deb followed her vision, moving to America and creating Deb Canham Artist Designs, specialising in miniature teddy bears that appeal not only to teddy bear collectors, but also to collectors of dolls and figurines. Deb designs nearly all of the items produced by ‘DCAD’ herself, except for a few special lines designed by carefully chosen teddy bear artists. The DCAD Collectors Club means Deb has a direct means of communication with the collectors who love her creations - creating a real community who get together at conventions, tea parties and shows.
Deb Canham’s teddy bears and animals are produced in China, but NOT in a huge factory where the workers are poorly paid and treated. Over 17 years ago Deb trained fifteen Chinese ladies to sew her miniature bears. These ladies still hand-sew each piece working either at their homes, or at a workroom in a house where Deb stays during her regular visits. Deb has become close to ‘her’ ladies and their families, and can be absolutely confident in the consistent quality of their work - which you can see for yourself in our range.
The tiniest bears and animals from DCAD are in the Dollshouse range and start at just 1¼” tall! They are made from velvet and ultrasuede, fully jointed, hand-stitched and limited in number. Each one is delivered in a tiny calico, drawstring bag featuring the Deb Canham logo; along with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Other teddy bears are from 2″ up to 14″ in Deb Canham’s BIGger Bears Collection, including a pair of clowns and a waistcoat-wearing bunny!

Hi there - could you tell me if Harry Hedgehog (Deb Canham) is a new (i.e this year) creation? Thanks

Hi Sharmini,
Although a lot of our Deb Canham items are new for 2010 Harry Hedgehog is not one of them. We were lucky enough to purchase some rarer, larger animals from Deb when we met her at the Spring Fair last month. I hope you like our first Deb Canham offering!
